During the course of the year pupils are involved in a variety of activities. Here are just a few of them.

Commonwealth Essay competition: Forms 3 to 6 (inclusive) enter this annually.

Poetry Competition: We hold our own poetry competition where pupils write and perform a poem based on a set theme.

Debating: Each Year Group conducts a formal debate, where children learn the art of persuasive, rhetoric and controlled argument.

Sponsored Readathon: The department takes part in a sponsored readathon, which raises on average, £3,000 per year for ‘Clic Sargeant’ and the ‘Roald Dahl Foundation for Sick Children’.

End of Year Drama Production: Each year pupils in Forms 5 and 6 (Year 7 and 8), put on a musical production and every pupil in these year groups participate in some way.   Many of our pupils have taken these experiences on to further levels, whether back stage, sound and lighting or performing.

Jersey Eisteddfod – Handwriting Competition:  Although ICT (Information and Communication Technology) forms an important part of the English Curriculum we still very much value the art and skill of handwriting. Our pupils are often highly successful in the Handwriting Section of the Jersey Eisteddfod.
