English Department:

Holiday Reading:  Children in Forms 3 to 6 should read a minimum of two books during the holidays.  The English Department would like children in Forms 3, 4 and 5 to write a review on one of the books to be handed in at the start of next term.  This will be a good opportunity for the children to practise their typing skills on the computer.

Staff Changes:

This term we say farewell to our Matron, Veronica Rothwell, who is off to pastures new. We wish her well for the future.  At the start of Trinity Term we will welcome Mrs Lynne Cook to St Michael’s.  Lynne, a nurse with over 30 years experience, who until recently has been managing the main operating theatres at the General Hospital, will be taking up the position of full-time Matron.

General Notes:

Reports:  Thank you for supporting our Parents’ Evenings.  There are written reports for children in Forms 3 and 6 only, enclosed with this mailing.

Moving a vehicle on school premises:  If for any reason you are in school and need to move your car when the children are outside playing, please can you inform the member of staff on duty before you start your vehicle.  I would also like to remind you to take special care whilst driving around the access roads to St Michael’s.

Use of the school playground after-school: Please note that after-school use of the school playground is only for those parents of Pre-Prep children waiting to collect older siblings from the Junior department or from after-school clubs and I would not expect it to be used after 3.40 pm.  Once you have collected your child/ren please do not delay your departure from school as the senior children are still working.  Your co-operation would be most appreciated.
